Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 16: The 72nd Miss World Festival, currently underway in Hyderabad, has turned into a vibrant celebration of global beauty, culture, and heartfelt connections, with contestants from around the world praising the city’s warmth and hospitality.
Among the participants is Saroop Roshi, representing Malaysia, who shared her admiration for India’s people and culture. Expressing a special fondness for Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Roshi described the experience as unforgettable and deeply personal.
“This is actually my fifth time in India, but my first visit to Telangana,” she said. “The people, the hospitality, the love — it’s almost like a home away from home. I told my mom yesterday on the phone, ‘You need to come.’ And she is — I can’t wait for her and the rest of my family to experience Telangana.”
Roshi added, “My ultimate favourite is, of course, Shah Rukh Khan. If you know Malaysia, you know how obsessed we are with his movies. We love him!”
For Noemie Milne, representing Guadeloupe, this is her first trip to India. She expressed how touched she was by the warmth of the people.
“Everyone is treating us so well. It’s the first time in my life I’ve met people who are so kind and generous,” Milne said, visibly moved by her experience.
Miss Ireland, Jasmine Gerhardt, also shared her enthusiasm for the host city. While this marks her second trip to India, it’s her first time in Hyderabad, and she’s already fallen in love with the city’s charm.
“I’ve seen so many beautiful sights,” she said. “Yesterday, we visited an incredible temple. I was blown away by the architecture and how impeccably designed it was. It was just insane.”
The 72nd Miss World Festival is being hosted in India for the first time in nearly three decades and will run until May 31, with contestants participating in a variety of cultural, charitable, and beauty-focused events.
The vibrant atmosphere in Hyderabad has clearly left an indelible mark on the contestants, many of whom have shared their gratitude and joy at being part of such a culturally rich and welcoming celebration.
