Washington [US], June 8: Actress Lisa Kudrow, famous for her role as Phoebe Buffay in Friends, has revealed her reservations about joining the cast of HBO’s acclaimed satire The White Lotus for its upcoming fourth season.
In a candid chat with White Lotus star Parker Posey, Kudrow admitted, “I do get nervous about inhabiting things that are too dark,” explaining that she tends to shy away from such heavy roles, as reported by E! News.
Posey, who portrayed the quirky Victoria Ratliff in season three, tried to persuade Kudrow by joking that a massive TikTok campaign might change her mind.
Despite her reluctance, Kudrow expressed deep admiration for series creator Mike White, especially praising his 2017 film Brad’s Status starring Ben Stiller. She shared, “I emailed him to let him know, because I had to, it was so good… I don’t do that a lot,” adding that she would “love” to work with him someday.
Meanwhile, Mike White has hinted at stylistic changes in the upcoming season, including a new approach to scene transitions and potential shifts in the show’s sound design after composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer’s exit due to creative differences.
Fans can look forward to a fresh take when The White Lotus returns, even as Kudrow weighs her options.
