New Delhi [India] : As tensions escalate between India and Pakistan, renowned poet and public figure Kumar Vishwas has appealed to Indian news broadcasters and content creators to avoid sharing “unauthorised” and “unverified” information. Emphasizing the importance of national unity and responsible journalism, Vishwas urged the public and media to stand firmly behind the Indian Armed Forces during this critical period.
In a recently shared video, Kumar Vishwas praised the Indian Army’s bravery in conducting successful operations targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). He specifically highlighted the significance of responsible reporting during such sensitive times.
“I request the news channels and broadcasters—while we have all celebrated various festivals and gained viewership together—please be mindful of the potential consequences of your coverage. Consider how your reports might impact national unity and how they could be misused by adversarial forces,” Vishwas said in his message.
Recalling the aftermath of the 2016 surgical strike, Vishwas expressed concern over the internal discord that followed when certain sections of society questioned the authenticity of the Army’s actions. He cautioned against repeating those mistakes and stressed the importance of trusting official government sources.
“Back during the operations before Pahalgam, I witnessed firsthand how internal skepticism weakened our global stance. We must support our forces unconditionally and rely on official channels like the Indian Army’s ADGPI and government ministries for verified information,” he added.
Vishwas also called on independent content creators and social media influencers to act responsibly and avoid spreading content that could be exploited by hostile entities for misinformation or propaganda.
He further urged Indian citizens to follow civic protocols issued by the government and come together in solidarity, putting aside differences of caste, religion, or political affiliation. “If the situation demands, let’s be ready to provide help—be it medicines, aid, or food. National interest comes first,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army confirmed that during the night of May 8–9, it successfully repelled multiple drone intrusions and ceasefire violations along the western border and Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. According to official statements, these actions were part of Operation Sindoor, under which nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK were neutralized.
