Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India]: Rajasthan Minister Jogaram Patel announced on Friday that Indian armed forces successfully neutralised Pakistani drones near the India-Pakistan border, prompting heightened alertness in border districts. Residents have been urged to stay vigilant, and all government staff in these regions have had their leave cancelled.
Speaking to ANI, Patel stated, “Our armed forces gave a befitting reply to Pakistan. Ministers and officials closely monitored the situation. Rajasthan shares nearly 1000 km of border with Pakistan, making areas like Jaisalmer and Jodhpur vulnerable. Last night, our air defence system successfully neutralised multiple Pakistani drones with active cooperation from local residents.”
Patel emphasized that all government officials in the affected border areas have been instructed to remain on duty. “The Chief Minister, Bhajanlal Sharma, is personally overseeing the developments,” he said.
Echoing these remarks, Home Minister Jawahar Singh Bedham confirmed that Indian forces thwarted attempted drone strikes targeting civilian areas near Jaisalmer and other border zones. “CM Bhajanlal Sharma has convened a high-level meeting to issue directives for enhanced preparedness. Administrative vacancies in border areas have been urgently filled, and additional State Police and RAC personnel have been deployed to support the armed forces and civilians,” he added.
In a statement, the Indian Army confirmed that Pakistan launched coordinated drone and munitions-based attacks along the entire Western Border on the night of May 8-9. The attacks included ceasefire violations (CFVs) along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. “All hostile actions were effectively countered. Our response was decisive and strong. The Indian Army remains committed to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty,” the Army said.
On Thursday, the Indian Army reportedly intercepted and destroyed over 50 Pakistani drones during a massive counter-drone operation along both the LoC and International Border (IB).
Additionally, Indian Armed Forces successfully repelled a coordinated drone and missile attack by Pakistan targeting multiple military installations in Northern and Western India on the night of May 7-8. An enemy Air Defence system in Lahore was also neutralised during this engagement.
