As ‘Mohabbatein’ approaches its 25th anniversary, fans of the iconic film are wondering if it will get a theatrical re-release, much like several other Bollywood classics this year. Jimmy Sheirgill, who played the role of Karan in the 2000 romantic drama, addressed this speculation.
When asked about the possibility of a re-release, the actor enthusiastically responded, “It should definitely happen for the 25th anniversary. Even today, kids watch the film whenever it airs on TV, and it’s amazing to be part of such a timeless movie.”
Directed by Aditya Chopra, Mohabbatein brought together a star-studded cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and Sheirgill. The film, set in a prestigious college, explored multiple love stories, with love and discipline clashing under the strict rule of a principled principal. Its memorable music and iconic dialogues still resonate with audiences.
In other news, Sheirgill is currently starring in Neeraj Pandey’s crime thriller Sikandar Ka Muqaddar, which premiered on November 29. The series also features Tamannaah Bhatia and Avinash Tiwary. Sheirgill plays Inspector Jasvinder Singh, a determined cop investigating a case that has haunted him for years.
Commenting on his continued collaboration with Neeraj Pandey, Sheirgill said, “This is my fifth film with him. It’s always a pleasure to work with him. We’ve done films like Special 26 and A Wednesday, and now Sikandar Ka Muqaddar is another exciting project.”
The crime drama is currently streaming on Netflix.
