Indian pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah was honored as the Best International Men’s Cricketer at the BCCI Awards 2025 on Saturday.
Bumrah, who had already clinched both the Best Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year and Best Men’s Cricketer of the Year titles at the ICC Awards 2024, continued his dominance by securing the prestigious BCCI award for his performances in the 2023-24 season.
The right-arm fast bowler had an exceptional year, playing a pivotal role in India’s T20 World Cup triumph after 17 years. His match-winning spells and 15 wickets in the tournament earned him the Player of the Tournament honor.
In Test cricket, Bumrah finished 2024 as the highest wicket-taker, claiming 71 wickets in 13 matches—a feat surpassed only by Kapil Dev for India in a single calendar year.
At 31, Bumrah has now won the Polly Umrigar Award for the third time, having previously received it in the 2018-19 and 2021-22 seasons.
His brilliance was particularly evident during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, where he was India’s standout performer. With 31 wickets, he finished as the series’ leading wicket-taker, earning the Player of the Series award and further cementing his status as one of the best bowlers in the world.
Currently ranked No. 1 in the ICC Men’s Test Rankings, Bumrah is set to feature in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, starting February 19. However, he is currently recovering from a back issue and may miss the home ODI series against England, beginning February 6.
