IndiGo Cancels Flights To Jammu, Leh, Srinagar, And More Amid Ongoing Tensions

New Delhi [India]: IndiGo Airlines announced on Monday that it has cancelled all flight operations to and from several key northern and western cities for Tuesday, citing safety concerns amid ongoing regional tensions.

In an official statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), IndiGo confirmed the cancellations of flights operating to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot on May 13, 2025.

“In light of the latest developments and with your safety as our utmost priority, flights to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot are cancelled for 13th May 2025.
We understand how this may disrupt your travel plans, and regret the inconvenience caused. Our teams are actively monitoring the situation and will promptly keep you informed of further updates. Before heading to the airport, please check your flight status on our website or app. If you need assistance, we’re just a message or call away. and forever ready to help,” the statement read.

The cancellation announcement came shortly after IndiGo had earlier issued a travel advisory suggesting that operations on previously closed routes would gradually resume.
“In line with the latest government directives, the airports are open for operations. We will progressively commence operations on the previously closed routes,” the airline had stated.

The temporary suspension of air traffic comes amid heightened India-Pakistan tensions and follows a three-day airspace closure which the Airports Authority of India (AAI) had previously extended until May 15. However, the AAI has now announced the reopening of 32 airports across northern and western India for civil aviation.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army has issued a reassurance regarding the current ground situation, confirming no enemy drones have been reported within Indian territory and that everything remains under full control.

Recent incidents in the Samba sector witnessed interception of Pakistani drones, as red streaks and explosions lit up the skies during a regional blackout.
According to Army sources, “a small number of drones had come into the Samba sector and were being engaged,” adding that “there is nothing to be alarmed about.”

The situation, although tense, is being actively monitored by Indian defence forces, with air defence systems already deployed and engaging threats in real time.
