Raipur (Chhattisgarh), April 11: In a landmark move that places India firmly on the global semiconductor map, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today laid the foundation stone for the country’s first Gallium Nitride (GaN)-based semiconductor fabrication unit in Nava Raipur. The project, spearheaded by Polymatech Electronics Limited, represents a technological leap powered by Ultra-edge GaN technology.
🚀 Key Highlights
- Developer: Polymatech Electronics Ltd.
- Total Investment: ₹1,143 crore (initial) + ₹10,000 crore (announced during event)
- Commercial Production: Expected by April-May 2026
- Annual Capacity: 10 billion chips by 2030
- Targeted Frequency Range: 5.925 GHz to 13.75 GHz (Nodes N102–104)
- Applications: 5G, 6G telecom infrastructure, defense, AI, high-performance computing
💡 Why Gallium Nitride (GaN)?
Unlike traditional silicon chips, GaN chips are more efficient in high-frequency and high-power environments. They’re faster, generate less heat, and offer better performance—crucial for next-gen wireless communication (5G/6G), defense electronics, and RF systems.
“This isn’t just a plant; it’s the identity of the new Chhattisgarh,” said CM Vishnu Deo Sai.
“Our aim is to involve youth from tribal and rural regions in this technological revolution by providing technical training and job opportunities.”
