Indian Army And Assam Rifles Recover 114 Weapons And War-Like Stores In Manipur

In a major security operation, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, under the Spear Corps, launched intelligence-based operations across multiple districts in Manipur, resulting in the recovery of 114 weapons, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition, and war-like stores. The operation, which took place on March 7, spanned the districts of Bishnupur, Senapati, Thoubal, Jiribam, Chandel, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Imphal East, and Imphal West, and was conducted in coordination with Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP.

According to a statement, security forces also destroyed several bunkers in the Kangpokpi district as part of the ongoing counter-insurgency efforts.

The operations in Bishnupur district, in the area of Grove southwest of Nepali Basti, led to the recovery of seven weapons, including two carbines, two pistols, two rifles, and one improvised mortar, along with ammunition and war-like stores. Similarly, in Chandel district, a successful search operation resulted in the recovery of 55 weapons, including various types of rifles and shotguns, along with 32 improvised mortars, four IEDs, grenades, and additional ammunition.

In Senapati district, Assam Rifles, working in coordination with Manipur Police, acted on intelligence about the presence of arms and ammunition in the Taphou Kuki area, leading to the recovery of four weapons, including a mix of single-barrel and double-barrel guns.

The joint operation in Churachandpur district led to the recovery of 15 weapons in the Gothol area, while in Jiribam district, nine improvised mortars were found during a search operation in Ankhasu village. Further successful intelligence-based operations in Imphal East, Thoubal, and Imphal West districts resulted in the recovery of multiple weapons and war-like stores.

A Cordon and Search Operation in Khengang village in the Kangpokpi district also led to the recovery of four weapons and the destruction of 12 bunkers used by insurgents.

These ongoing efforts by the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and local police forces continue to disrupt insurgent activities in the region, reinforcing the government’s commitment to ensuring peace and security in Manipur.
