A major fire broke out in the Vapi area of Gujarat’s Valsad district early on Saturday morning, engulfing more than 15 scrap warehouses. Officials reported that ten fire tenders were rushed to the scene to contain the fire, and dousing operations are still underway. Further details about the cause and impact of the fire are awaited.
This incident follows another fire that took place on Friday at the Kamdhenu Gau Seva Trust in Gandhidham, Gujarat.
Earlier on March 4, a fire had broken out in an old building near the Godhra railway station. The fire spread rapidly, affecting four shops and five to six houses in the area. Firefighters worked tirelessly for 5 to 6 hours to control the blaze, which started around 1 AM and was eventually brought under control by 5 AM.
Mukesh Bhai Chawara, Fire Officer at Godhra, shared details, saying, “In the night around 1 o’ clock, we got a call that a fire broke out near the railway station. When we went to the spot, we saw that the fire was very rampant, and it had engulfed four shops on the front side, and on the rear side, it had affected 5 to 6 houses.” He added that the fire likely started from oil sold in the shop, which could have sparked the blaze.
Firefighters in all three locations are continuing their efforts to ensure the fires are fully contained and to assess any damage.
