As the Congress Working Committee (CWC) convened in Ahmedabad, senior Congress leader and MP Deepender Singh Hooda acknowledged the challenges facing the party but expressed renewed determination to strengthen the party’s ideological base and spread its message across India.
“We bow down to the land of Gujarat that gave birth to Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, and the ideology of Congress. We accept that these are challenging times, but we are committed to strengthening our organisational ideology with a new resolution,” Hooda told ANI after the CWC meeting.
The meeting, held in the symbolic city of Gandhi and Patel’s legacy, was infused with emotional resonance and political urgency. Congress leaders emphasized a strategic push to reconnect with grassroots support while defending the party’s historic legacy.
Kharge: BJP Diverting Nation with “Communal Division”
Addressing party workers at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) convention, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a sharp critique of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of deliberate attempts to create communal divisions and distract the public from core issues like employment, inflation, and governance.
“Today, attention is being diverted from the basic issues of the country by creating communal division,” said Kharge.
“An oligarchic monopoly is controlling governance by capturing national resources.”
Kharge also accused the government of attempting to rewrite the legacies of national heroes, including Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, to distort history for political convenience.
“A well-planned conspiracy has been carried out regarding many national heroes. The same people who never participated in the freedom struggle are now trying to claim that history,” Kharge added.
Gandhis Visit Sabarmati Ashram
In a symbolic and deeply emotional gesture, Congress President Kharge, LoP Rahul Gandhi, and Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi participated in a prayer meeting at the Sabarmati Ashram, paying homage to the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi.
The ashram visit marked a moment of reflection for the party as it aims to rebuild its presence across India amid strong political headwinds and the fast-approaching 2025 general elections.
