New Delhi: Banks in several states and Union Territories (UTs) across India will observe a mid-week holiday on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, to mark Guru Nanak Jayanti, Kartik Purnima, and Rahas Purnima. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, there are a total of 11 bank holidays in November 2025, including regional and weekend breaks.
As per RBI guidelines, banks remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month and on all Sundays. However, customers should note that holiday dates vary across states, depending on regional festivals and observances.

Festivals on November 5: Guru Nanak Jayanti and Kartik Purnima
Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Gurpurab, commemorates the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru and founder of Sikhism. The festival is celebrated with great devotion, particularly in Punjab, Delhi, and Chandigarh, where devotees visit gurdwaras, participate in kirtans, and offer prayers.
On the same day, Kartik Purnima, the full moon day of the Hindu month of Kartik, is celebrated across several states. The day is considered highly auspicious in Hinduism and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Many devotees take holy dips in rivers and perform rituals to mark the occasion.

Despite the physical bank closures on November 5, all digital banking channels will remain fully operational. Customers can continue to access services such as:
