Disha Patani Reminisces On ‘Ek Villain Returns’ Role As Mohit Suri’s ‘Saiyaara’ Continues Box Office Triumph

Mumbai, Maharashtra | July 29, 2025: Actress Disha Patani took a nostalgic journey down memory lane on Tuesday, reflecting on her experience working in the 2022 action-thriller ‘Ek Villain Returns.’ In a heartfelt social media post, Patani extended her gratitude to director Mohit Suri for entrusting her with the complex role of Rasika.

Sharing a behind-the-scenes clip from the movie, Disha posted on Instagram, “One of the few times we get to play villain. Thank you Mohit sir for giving me Rasika.” In ‘Ek Villain Returns,’ Patani portrayed Rasika Mapuskar, a character with shades of grey, alongside a star-studded cast including John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, and Tara Sutaria. The film served as a spiritual sequel to Suri’s 2014 hit, ‘Ek Villain,’ which featured Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor, and Riteish Deshmukh.

Meanwhile, director Mohit Suri is currently basking in the massive success of his latest directorial venture, ‘Saiyaara.’ The romantic drama, which hit theaters on July 18, 2025, stars newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in the lead roles. ‘Saiyaara’ has defied expectations, emerging as a major box office force.

Film trade expert Taran Adarsh recently shared an update on ‘Saiyaara’s’ phenomenal box office performance. In a tweet on Saturday, Adarsh stated, “SPLENDID SATURDAY – ‘SAIYAARA’ REMAINS A MAJOR FORCE… #Saiyaara continues its triumphant run, now eyeing the Rs 300 cr milestone after crossing Rs 200 cr on its second Saturday [Day 9]. Now comes the best part: #Saiyaara’s second Saturday is HIGHER than its first Saturday [ ₹ 26.25 cr] – a remarkable feat and a rarity in today’s times. There’s just no stopping this blockbuster! #Saiyaara [Week 2] Fri 18.50 cr, Sat 27 cr. Total: Rs 220.75 cr.”

As of Monday, July 28, ‘Saiyaara’ has reportedly crossed the ₹250 crore mark at the domestic box office, reaching an estimated total of ₹256.75 crore by its 11th day, despite a slight dip on its second Monday. This makes it the second highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025 so far, only behind Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna’s ‘Chhaava’ (which has garnered over ₹600 crore).

The Mohit Suri directorial ‘Saiyaara’ tells the emotional story of a young couple, a singer (Ahaan Panday as Krish Kapoor) and a lyricist (Aneet Padda as Vaani Batra). The film navigates their journey through love, loss, achievements, and heartbreak, resonating deeply with audiences and critics alike. Its strong emotional core, compelling music, and the fresh performances of its lead pair have been widely praised. Produced by Yash Raj Films, ‘Saiyaara’ is considered a significant comeback for Suri in the romantic drama genre, reminiscent of his earlier success with ‘Aashiqui 2’.
