On the sacred occasion of ‘Bada Mangal’, the first Tuesday of the Hindu month Jyeshtha, thousands of devotees gathered at Hanuman temples across India to offer prayers and seek blessings from Lord Hanuman, the revered deity of strength, devotion, and protection.
The Hanuman Garhi Temple in Ayodhya, one of the most prominent shrines dedicated to Lord Hanuman, witnessed a massive turnout as devotees queued up since early morning for darshan and special puja rituals.
Similar scenes unfolded at the Lete Hanuman Temple in Prayagraj, where devotees thronged the historic site, chanting bhajans and mantras. In the national capital, the Connaught Place Hanuman Mandir also saw a large footfall of devotees observing fasts and performing Hanuman Chalisa recitations.
Significance of Bada Mangal:
- Bada Mangal, also known as Budhwa Mangal, is celebrated on Tuesdays in the month of Jyeshtha (May-June).
- The day is especially dedicated to Lord Hanuman, also known as Sankatmochan, the remover of obstacles.
- Devotees observe fasts, visit temples, distribute prasad and organize bhandaras (community meals).
- Special prayers and recitations of Hanuman Chalisa and mantras are conducted to invoke blessings.
Earlier Observance: Hanuman Jayanti (April 12)
Devotees had recently celebrated Hanuman Jayanti on April 12, which marks the birth of Lord Hanuman on the full moon day of Chaitra month (Chaitra Poornima). On this day too, devotees observed fasts, offered special prayers, and participated in temple festivities across the country.
As the Bada Mangal season continues throughout the Tuesdays of Jyeshtha, many devotees are expected to continue their devotional observances, reaffirming their faith and spiritual connection with Lord Hanuman.
