New Delhi [India], June 18: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday inaugurated ‘Soma – The Ayurvedic Kitchen’ and lauded the increasing popularity of millet-based healthy food options across the national capital.
Addressing the media at the event, CM Gupta praised such initiatives for promoting a nutritious lifestyle rooted in India’s traditional practices.
“Many such healthy kitchens are opening in Delhi. One of them is in my own constituency, serving everything from millet pav bhaji to millet burgers and dosas. I’ve tried the food myself—it’s both healthy and delicious,” she said.
She underscored the importance of reviving India’s cultural heritage, which includes millets, yoga, and alternative medicine.
“These practices are not just a part of our past—they’re essential for a healthier future. If we incorporate them into our daily lives, society and the country will thrive,” Gupta noted, extending her best wishes ahead of International Yoga Day on June 21.
Speaking about the upcoming Yoga Day celebrations at Yamuna Bank, she expressed a personal sentiment towards the river.
“I feel a deep connection with the Yamuna. Just looking at it reminds me of my responsibility to help keep it clean,” the Chief Minister added.
On civic issues, especially waterlogging during monsoons, Gupta assured that proactive steps were being taken.
“We are inspecting all drains for blockages or structural issues. Action is being taken wherever problems arise. Thankfully, there was no water stagnation near Minto Bridge this time,” she said.
She also highlighted ongoing preparations to combat seasonal diseases like dengue.
“A comprehensive action plan for tackling dengue is being put together. Prevention and timely intervention will be our focus this year,” the CM said.
