Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], February 6: The winter chill continues to grip Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, with the city recording a minimum temperature of -2.0°C and a maximum of 14.0°C, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Despite the cold, tourists are flocking to the region to enjoy the wintry weather and the breathtaking, snow-covered landscapes that make the valley a picturesque winter destination.
Mahesh, a tourist from Gurgaon, shared his experience, expressing satisfaction with the atmosphere and the lack of any discomfort. He noted that despite concerns about possible unpleasant weather, his trip has been enjoyable. “We went to Sonmarg yesterday, and it was filled with snow. There’s a lot of crowd, and it looks beautiful,” Mahesh said. He encouraged more people to visit, calling Kashmir “the most beautiful place in India.”
In addition to Srinagar, the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir has experienced fresh snowfall, particularly in higher altitudes, leading to even lower temperatures. Locals have bundled up to stay warm, and while the snowfall this year has been less than in previous years, many are hopeful for more snow in the coming weeks, which could draw even more tourists to the region.
Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh’s Manali, in the Kullu district, has also become a popular winter destination after receiving a fresh heavy spell of snow, further enhancing its appeal. Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, recorded a temperature of 2.6°C at 8:30 AM, adding to the wintry atmosphere across northern India.
