CFSL Report Provides Key Clue in Zubeen Garg’s Death Probe, Says Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday revealed that the viscera report of the state’s beloved cultural icon, Zubeen Garg, has offered a clear direction to investigators probing his mysterious death in Singapore last month.

Garg, one of Assam’s most celebrated singers, died on September 19 while swimming in the sea in Singapore. Following his death, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Assam Police registered a case of murder, criminal conspiracy, and death due to negligence.

To ensure transparency, a second post-mortem was conducted in Guwahati after his body was brought back from Singapore. The viscera samples collected during this examination were sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Delhi for advanced analysis.

According to officials, CFSL submitted the test report to Assam CID on Friday, which was then forwarded to Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) — where the second autopsy was performed — to prepare the final post-mortem report.

“Following submission of the viscera report by CFSL, Delhi, a specific direction has now emerged in the investigation into Zubeen’s death,” CM Sarma said during a Facebook Live session.

The findings are expected to significantly shape the ongoing probe into the singer’s untimely demise.
