BJP’s Harish Khurana Prioritizes Constituency Issues Amid Leadership Decisions

New Delhi [India]: BJP’s Moti Nagar winning candidate, Harish Khurana, stated on Monday that while the selection of Delhi’s next Chief Minister rests with the party’s top leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his immediate priority is addressing local constituency issues.

“In Moti Nagar, the constituency I have won from, there are drinking water and sewage-related issues, and we will work to resolve them. The selection of the Chief Minister is the responsibility of the top leadership and the Prime Minister, so let them handle it,” Khurana told media.

BJP Forms Government in Delhi After 27 Years

The BJP is set to form the government in Delhi after a gap of 27 years, securing an overwhelming two-thirds majority in the Delhi Assembly Elections. This victory marks the end of the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) decade-long rule in the national capital.

The last BJP government in Delhi was from 1993 to 1998.

In the 70-seat Delhi Assembly, BJP won 48 seats, while AAP managed to secure only 22 seats.
Several prominent AAP leaders, including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, ex-Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, former minister Satyendra Jain, and Saurabh Bharadwaj, suffered major defeats in the election.

BJP’s Parvesh Verma Calls February 8 a “Golden Day” in Delhi’s History

BJP leader Parvesh Verma described February 8 as a day that will be “written in golden letters” in Delhi’s history. He highlighted that Delhi was “waiting for a good government to take charge.”

Verma assured that the BJP-led Delhi government will function with honesty and determination under PM Modi’s leadership.

“This is Delhi’s victory, not just mine. The whole of Delhi was waiting for a good government to come. The BJP government under PM Modi is working for the country. In Delhi, we will follow the same approach and work with honesty and utmost determination,” he said during a gathering in his native village Mundka.

He added, “Yesterday, the entire city, especially outer Delhi, helped BJP secure victory. This reminds us of 1993. February 8 will be written in golden letters in Delhi’s history.”

Looking Ahead: BJP’s Focus on Delhi’s Development

With BJP reclaiming power in Delhi, the party is expected to unveil its governance agenda in the coming days. Key areas of focus include:

Infrastructure development
Water and sewage management
Healthcare and education reforms
Public safety and law enforcement

As discussions continue within the BJP leadership on who will be Delhi’s next Chief Minister, Harish Khurana and other elected leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to solving local issues and delivering on BJP’s promises.
