Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh): President Droupadi Murmu on Monday took a holy dip at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj during the ongoing Maha Kumbh 2025.
After the ritual bath, President Murmu offered prayers at the Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.
Upon her arrival, she was received by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
“Governor of Uttar Pradesh Smt Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath received President Droupadi Murmu on her arrival at Prayagraj,” the Rashtrapati Bhavan stated on X.
Following her visit, President Murmu also fed migratory birds at Triveni Sangam, a popular tradition among visitors to the sacred site.
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Also Takes Holy Dip
Earlier in the day, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with his family, also took a holy dip at Triveni Sangam.
Speaking to ANI, CM Dhami expressed gratitude, calling himself “fortunate” to participate in the sacred event.
He also confirmed that preparations for Kumbh Mela 2027 in Haridwar have already begun.
“People from all over the world are coming here for a holy dip of faith… I consider myself fortunate to be able to come here. The Kumbh of 2027 will be in Haridwar, and we have already started preparations for it,” he said.
Record-Breaking Devotee Participation at Maha Kumbh 2025
According to the Uttar Pradesh government, approximately 8.429 million devotees took a holy dip on Sunday alone. So far, more than 420 million devotees have participated in Maha Kumbh 2025.
The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, which began on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025), is the world’s largest spiritual and cultural gathering, drawing millions of devotees from India and abroad. The grand festival will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26.
The event is expected to set new records in terms of attendance and participation, reinforcing its significance as a global spiritual phenomenon.
