BJP MP Nishikant Dubey Alleges USAID’s Role in Destabilizing India through Funding Journalists and Politicians

New Delhi, February 11: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP, Nishikant Dubey, on Tuesday, made explosive allegations, claiming that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is involved in funding individuals who, under the guise of journalism, are trying to destabilize India and “balkanize” the country by allying with foreign powers.

Speaking to ANI, Dubey stated that he plans to raise this matter in Parliament and will shed light on how USAID allegedly finances politicians and journalists involved in activities that undermine India’s sovereignty. He further mentioned that the Trump administration is currently investigating the issue and vowed that the Indian government will also probe the matter and “expose everything.”

“This is an alarming situation. In the name of honest journalism, left-wing journalism, anti-Modi journalism, there are people trying to ally with foreign powers to balkanize India. All of this has been exposed, and the US government is seriously investigating it. Our government will also investigate and expose the facts,” Dubey said.

Recently, US President Donald Trump criticized USAID for its handling of funds, calling it “fraudulent and unexplainable” and demanding the agency be shut down. “USAID is driving the radical left crazy, and there is nothing they can do about it because the way in which the money has been spent, so much of it fraudulently, is totally unexplainable. The corruption is at levels rarely seen before. Close it down,” Trump wrote on X.

The controversy surrounding USAID deepened following remarks by White House Press Secretary Karoline Levitt on February 3, criticizing the agency for funding projects such as a $1.5 million program for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in Serbia, a transgender opera in Colombia, and a DEI musical in Ireland. Levitt condemned these initiatives as “wasteful spending of American taxpayer dollars.”

Trump’s criticisms come after his appointment of Secretary of State Marco Rubio as acting administrator of USAID, signaling the State Department’s de-facto control over the agency.
