Bangladesh Opt To Bat First Against India In ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025

Dubai [UAE], February 20: In their opening game of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and chose to bat first against India at the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday.

Bangladesh and India are placed in Group A alongside Pakistan and New Zealand. After this match, both teams will face Pakistan and New Zealand in their next fixtures.

Shanto, after winning the toss, said, “We would like to bat first. Looks like a good wicket, so we want to put runs on the board. We have to play good cricket today, and the boys are confident. We are playing three spinners, with two spinners for us.”

India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, confirmed the playing XI for India, stating that Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja are included in the lineup in place of Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy.

“I would have fielded first. We have played a few years back here, and we felt the ball comes on better under lights. All is looking good. Everyone is fit and fine to go. Let’s hope we start well. There is no looking back, and every game becomes very important in this tournament. Only Varun misses out from the last ODI we played; Jadeja comes back, and Arshdeep misses out while Shami comes back,” said Rohit Sharma.
