Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Approves Major Reforms For Outsourced Government Employees

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved a new plan to pay outsourced workers a fixed monthly honorarium of Rs 16,000 to Rs 20,000 in order to enhance their working conditions. The Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, reached the decision on Tuesday. It also includes plans to enhance working conditions and provide these workers more time off.

Suresh Kumar Khanna, the State Finance Minister, said that the government wants to make sure that outsourced workers get “respectable salaries” and better working conditions. There have been a lot of complaints that workers weren’t getting all of their pay since the money was going through service providers. The government will no longer need these middlemen under the new arrangement.

Important Changes and Benefits for Staff Who Work for Others

Fixed Monthly Honorarium: Employees who work for the government and other organizations will now get a monthly honorarium of between Rs 16,000 and Rs 20,000.

Direct Payments: Employees will get their honorarium directly transferred into their accounts between the 1st and 5th of each month. This way, they will get their complete salary without any deductions by service providers.

Better working conditions: Employees will work for 26 days a month and have a set appointment time of three years.

Longer Reservations: The government has also made reservation benefits available for outsourced appointments. This will apply to women, people with disabilities, ex-servicemen, dependents of freedom fighters, Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes.

Death Benefit: The plan includes a provision for Rs 15,000 to be given for funeral costs if an employee dies while on the job. This is a kind gesture.

The Uttar Pradesh Outsourcing Service Corporation, a non-profit public company, is in charge of the work that these outsourced personnel do. The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) platform will now be used by the corporation to choose service suppliers. This is meant to make the hiring process more open and efficient.

Minister Khanna said that these changes are a big step toward giving outsourced workers the benefits and security they need.
