Washington DC [US], May 16: The much-anticipated second season of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders is officially set to premiere on June 18 on Netflix, giving NFL fans another intimate look into the lives of the iconic cheer squad, reports Variety.
Season 2 will follow the journey of the 2024–25 Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders—from high-stakes auditions through the thrilling NFL season—highlighting both their professional and personal challenges. Returning to direct is Emmy Award-winner Greg Whiteley, who previously helmed the series’ breakout debut.
The first season, which premiered last June, quickly became a hit. It landed on Netflix’s Top 10 global chart within just four days, garnering 2.3 million views, and maintained a spot in the Top 10 US TV shows for five consecutive weeks. One standout moment—the team’s performance to AC/DC’s Thunderstruck—went viral on TikTok, fueling the show’s popularity.
Key figures such as Kelli Finglass, Senior Director of the DCC, and Judy Trammell, Head Choreographer, are set to return in Season 2. Notably, cheerleader Reece Weaver will also be back, offering continuity for fans of the original season.
In a prior interview with Variety, Whiteley expressed optimism about deepening the storytelling in the upcoming season.
“Our last two or three weeks of filming, we were just starting to hit our stride,” she said. “I’d love to have more time to see if we can get deeper and deeper with more and more of the team.”
The series is part of Netflix’s expanding collaboration with the Dallas Cowboys franchise. Another docuseries titled America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys is slated for release in August, further cementing the streaming giant’s commitment to sports-driven storytelling.
With its blend of athleticism, drama, and behind-the-scenes access, Season 2 promises to deliver another compelling chapter in the legacy of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.
