Bollywood singer Akshay Kumar made a controversial joke regarding a recent shooting at presenter Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Canada during the last episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show. The jovial teasing became grim when Kumar said, “He has already done three seasons on Netflix…” He created his own restaurant and is making so much money that bullets were fired there.

Kapil Sharma laughed off the comment on stage, but the joke is about a true and serious set of events. In Surrey, Canada, bullets were fired at Kap’s Cafe for the second time in a month in August. Harry Boxer, who is part of the Lawrence Bishnoi group, said he was responsible for the attack. He said in a scary video that the reason for the sacking was Kapil’s invitation to Salman Khan to the season 3 premiere of the program. He further said that everyone who works with Khan will be killed.
Kapil Sharma has mostly kept quiet about the problem, even though it is quite serious. He did, however, post a message on social media following the first gunshot in July. He thanked the Surrey Police Service and the people of Surrey for their help and said that his team would “stand firm against violence.”
The event has brought to light the persistent threats that organized crime groups pose to people in the film business. The last episode of the show is also in the middle of a different legal battle. Producer Firoz Nadiadwala sent Netflix a ₹25 crore legal notice, saying that the show used the copyrighted character “Baburao” without authorization.
