AAP’s Gopal Rai Accuses BJP Of “Blame Game” Over CAG Report; Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Hits Back

New Delhi [India]: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Gopal Rai on Friday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Delhi of engaging in a “blame game” to avoid fulfilling its election promises.

Speaking to media, Rai criticized the BJP for selectively presenting the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report. “The CAG report is tabled in the Assembly and then sent to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for analysis. BJP does not want to table the entire report; they just want to play the blame game even after forming a government,” he said.

“They could have tabled all the reports at once, but they are doing it one by one. This is just a way to avoid working on their promises,” he added.

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Slams AAP

Responding to Rai’s remarks, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta accused AAP of “creating drama” over the CAG report, which flagged a ₹2,000 crore loss due to the AAP government’s liquor policy.

“All this drama is just an excuse because they cannot handle the facts stated in the CAG reports. I will not let even a single penny of the state treasury go to waste,” Gupta asserted.

She further accused AAP of misusing Delhi’s tax revenue for election campaigns in other states. “They collected tax from Delhi and used it for elections elsewhere. We are releasing the CAG reports one by one, and now they are rattled. They cannot even sit in front of us in the House and listen to their misdeeds,” she said.

AAP MLAs Suspended Over Assembly Protest

The confrontation escalated as Gupta accused AAP of diverting attention from the CAG findings by “creating drama” over the removal of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s portrait. She emphasized that the Narendra Modi-led government had ensured “Ambedkar receives the respect he deserves, more than any previous government.”

On Tuesday, 21 AAP MLAs were suspended for disrupting Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena’s inaugural address, raising slogans against the alleged removal of portraits of B.R. Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh from the Chief Minister’s office in the Assembly.

CAG Report Flags Major Health Infrastructure Issues

The controversy comes amid the release of the 2025 CAG Report on Delhi’s public health infrastructure. The report highlighted significant shortcomings, including:

  • Staff shortages in healthcare facilities
  • Inadequate medical infrastructure
  • Poor management of health services

The Performance Audit on ‘Public Health Infrastructure and Management of Health Services’ (Report No. 3 of 2024) was officially presented in the Delhi Legislative Assembly on February 28, 2025.
