New Delhi [India], January 14: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched a Bhojpuri election campaign song on Tuesday to attract Purvanchali voters for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for February 5, 2025.
At a press conference, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh introduced the song and explained its significance, saying, “This Bhojpuri song is aimed at reaching out to our brothers and sisters from UP, Bihar, and Jharkhand. Bhojpuri music resonates deeply with their hearts, and the song will be easily understood by Hindi speakers as well.”
Purvanchali voters, who form a substantial portion of Delhi’s electorate, are considered a key voting bloc by all major political parties.
The song, titled “Babua Phir Se CM Hoyihe,” opens with the lines: “Delhi ke badal dihe surat, suhawan, khubsurat ho, a rajaji phir se Kejriwal ke jarurat aile,” roughly translating to “Delhi needs a CM like Arvind Kejriwal.” The beats and style of the song closely resemble BJP MP Manoj Tiwari’s popular track, “Hind ka Sitara,” which featured in the web series Panchayat – 3.
Earlier, BJP MP from North East Delhi, Manoj Tiwari, remarked that 42% of Delhi’s voters come from UP and Bihar, vowing that these voters would seek “revenge” at the polls on February 5. Tiwari also criticized Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly targeting the Purvanchali community and dismissing them as “fake voters.”
In response, AAP launched its second campaign song, following the release of “Fir Layenge Kejriwal.” This comes amid Kejriwal’s allegations of “voter fraud” and a significant surge in voter registrations from UP and Bihar. Kejriwal had claimed that a large number of fake voters were being registered ahead of the Delhi elections.
Tiwari, in a press conference last week, condemned Kejriwal’s remarks, emphasizing that AAP has a history of disrespecting people from UP, Bihar, and Jharkhand. He further accused Kejriwal of making “fake promises” and insulting hardworking migrants who have made a place for themselves in Delhi.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva also targeted Kejriwal for his alleged animosity towards the people of Purvanchal, accusing him of harboring hatred against the people from UP and Bihar.
The Delhi Assembly elections are set to take place in a single phase on February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8.
