Andrea Barber And Jodie Sweetin Reflect On John Stamos Crush Questions: “They Were Like Family”

Washington DC [US] : While many Full House viewers may have swooned over John Stamos’ portrayal of Uncle Jesse, his young co-stars felt very differently.

Andrea Barber, who played the lovable next-door neighbor Kimmy Gibbler on the beloved sitcom, recently recalled being asked in an old interview whether she “ever” had a “crush” on Stamos — a question she called “gross,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Speaking on the How Rude, Tanneritos! podcast alongside co-star Jodie Sweetin (who played Stephanie Tanner), Barber emphasized that she and her fellow young castmates saw Stamos more like a big brother than a romantic figure. “No,” Barber said firmly. “They’re like our older brothers, and we do not think of them that way.”

Sweetin agreed, adding, “Not even older brothers. They’re like my uncles.”

The topic surfaced during a game of “Would You Rather” on a recent mini-episode of their rewatch podcast, as they reminisced about the two-part episode where Jesse (John Stamos) marries Becky (Lori Loughlin). When asked if they’d rather marry Joey (Dave Coulier) or Jesse, both stars admitted the question felt “weird,” given their familial bond with the actors.

Ultimately, they picked Joey — solely based on “temperament alone,” Sweetin clarified, with Barber reinforcing, “There’s nothing remotely attractive about this. They are just our buddies, and yeah, this is kind of a weird question.”

Following the end of Full House in 1995, Barber, Sweetin, and many of their original castmates reunited for the Netflix reboot Fuller House, which ran from 2016 to 2020.
