Araria (Bihar) [India]: In a tragic incident in Laxmipur village, Araria district of Bihar, ASI Rajiv Ranjan of Fulkaha police station lost his life during a clash between police personnel and villagers. The altercation occurred when the police attempted to arrest a criminal at a wedding ceremony.
According to DSP Mukesh Kumar Saha, the police team had gone to the village to apprehend Anmol Yadav, who is accused in cases under the Arms Act and NDPS Act.
“Acting on information that Anmol Yadav was attending a wedding in Laxmipur village, our team, including the station in-charge and ASI Rajiv Ranjan, conducted a raid and arrested him. However, local villagers confronted the police, leading to an altercation,” said DSP Saha.
During the scuffle, ASI Rajiv Ranjan collapsed. He was rushed to Forbesganj hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The police have since detained three to four individuals linked to the incident, and an investigation is ongoing.
DSP Saha added that the late ASI Rajiv Ranjan was a resident of Munger, Bihar. His body has been sent to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
The incident has left the entire police department in mourning, with authorities working to ensure justice is served.
