Indian Army To Deploy Indigenous Sherp ATVs For UN Peacekeeping In South Sudan

New Delhi [India]: The Indian Army is set to deploy indigenously developed Sherp All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) for peacekeeping duties under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), significantly enhancing mobility in challenging terrains.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Army stated:

“The Indian Army is set to deploy the indigenously developed Sherp All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) for peacekeeping operations to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, UNMISS, significantly enhancing mobility in extreme terrain.”

The Sherp ATVs are designed with amphibious capabilities and exceptional adaptability, making them ideal for navigating South Sudan’s demanding landscapes. These versatile vehicles are expected to enhance the Army’s rapid response capabilities, improve high-mobility logistics, and extend the operational reach of UN peacekeepers.

Highlighting India’s focus on self-reliance in defence manufacturing, the Army emphasized that this deployment underscores the country’s commitment to the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative and strengthens its role in promoting global peace and security.

In a separate event, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel stationed along the India-Pakistan border in Jaisalmer celebrated the spirit of Holi with vibrant festivities.

Visuals showed BSF personnel exchanging warm embraces, playing with Gulal, and dancing joyfully while sharing sweets. The celebrations reflected their camaraderie and resilience as they performed their duty on the border during the festive season.
