New Delhi [India], February 8: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president JP Nadda, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, and the party workers on the BJP’s apparent victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, marking the party’s return to power in the national capital after nearly 27 years.
In a post on X, Singh expressed gratitude to the people of Delhi, stating, “After almost 27 years, the people of Delhi have given their trust and blessings to BJP. For this, I express my gratitude to the people of Delhi.”
Singh described the BJP’s success as a “landslide victory,” attributing it to the faith people have in Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and the BJP’s policies. He wrote, “BJP’s landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly elections is a victory of faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi and the policies of @BJP4India. The people of this country have faith in Modiji’s credibility and the politics of good governance and development of the BJP.”
The Defence Minister further emphasized the importance of a developed Delhi in realizing the vision of a developed India. He stated that the “double engine government” would provide a fresh impetus to the city’s development.
“I heartily congratulate Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Party President Shri JP Nadda, Delhi State BJP President Shri Virendra Sachdeva, and all the party workers for this magnificent victory. A developed Delhi is very important to fulfill the resolution of a developed India. After this victory, the double engine government will give a new impetus to the development of Delhi,” Singh added.
As of 2:37 pm, the Election Commission’s trends showed BJP leading in 35 seats, with 12 wins so far. AAP had won 10 seats and was leading in 13. Congress, meanwhile, failed to secure any seats in the elections for the third consecutive term.
Polling for the 70-member Delhi Assembly was held on February 5, with a voter turnout of 60.54%.
