Arvind Kejriwal Accepts Delhi Election Results, Pledges Constructive Opposition Role

New Delhi [India], February 8: As the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) decade-long rule in Delhi comes to an end, former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accepted the election mandate with humility, congratulated the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on their victory, and called on them to fulfill their campaign promises.

In a video address, Kejriwal said, “We accept the mandate of the people with great humility. I congratulate the BJP for this victory, and I hope they will fulfill all the promises for which people have voted for them.”

Reflecting on his party’s achievements during its tenure, Kejriwal highlighted the work done by AAP in the fields of health, education, and infrastructure over the last 10 years. He reaffirmed that AAP would now play a “constructive role” in opposition while continuing to serve the people of Delhi. “We will not only play the role of a constructive opposition but will also remain among the people and continue to serve them. We did not come into politics for the sake of power, we considered politics as a medium through which the people could be served,” he added.

The BJP is poised to form the government in Delhi after 27 years. As per the latest updates from the Election Commission of India (ECI), BJP is ahead in 47 constituencies, having won 15 and leading in 32. AAP is ahead on 23 seats, with 11 wins and 12 leads, while Congress has failed to secure a single seat in the Delhi Assembly elections for the third consecutive time.

BJP’s victories so far include seats in Shalimar Bagh, Rajouri Garden, Tri Nagar, Rajinder Nagar, Sangam Vihar, Greater Kailash, Patparganj, and Gandhi Nagar. AAP has secured wins in Kondli, Delhi Cantt, Sultanpur Majra, Sadar Bazar, Chandni Chowk, Ballimaran, Tilak Nagar, Tughlaqabad, and Babarpur.

As the results unfolded, BJP workers and supporters celebrated outside the party’s office in New Delhi, marking what appears to be a historic return to power in the national capital after 27 years. Firecrackers, dancing, and singing were seen as BJP’s prospects for victory became clearer.
