Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 16: The recent attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan by an intruder at his residence in Bandra has raised serious concerns about safety in Mumbai, particularly in the celebrity-heavy locality.
In response to the incident, actress Raveena Tandon expressed her concern over the rising crime rates in Bandra, once considered a safe residential area. Through an Instagram post, Tandon wished Saif a speedy recovery while urging for stronger security measures. She highlighted the increasing incidents of criminal activity in the area, including scams, land grabbing, and violent crimes like chain snatching. “Targeting celebrities and soft targets has become rampant, and Bandra is losing its charm to unruly elements,” she wrote. “We need stronger measures to ensure safety.”
Other celebrities, including Pooja Bhatt, also voiced their concerns about the law and order situation in the country. “Law & Order. We have laws… what about order?” she posted. Pulkit Samrat described the attack as “shocking,” while Neil Nitin Mukesh offered his prayers for Saif’s recovery, wishing him strength and peace.
The attack occurred when an intruder reportedly confronted the actor’s maid at his residence in the ‘Satguru Sharan’ building. As Saif intervened, the situation escalated, leading to a violent altercation in which the actor was stabbed. Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery to treat his injuries, including a serious wound to his spinal cord.
Dr. Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital confirmed that Saif had suffered a significant injury to his thoracic spinal cord, with a knife lodged in his spine. The surgery was successful, and Saif is now stable and recovering. “He is completely stable now. He is recovering well and out of danger,” the doctor stated.
The incident has sparked renewed calls for enhanced safety measures in Mumbai, particularly in areas with high-profile residents.
