New Delhi [India], January 14: Brazilian Kho Kho player Nicholas Tadeu Santos Da Silva expressed his excitement and pride in participating in the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup in India. As the tournament marks a historic moment for the sport, Da Silva shared his thoughts on competing against top teams and the warm hospitality they’ve received in India.

Reflecting on their opening match against India, Da Silva described it as a great honour to face the sport’s powerhouse. “It’s an honour to play against the best. We are learning a lot every day, and we are training hard to make it a competitive match. We want to play beautifully and give our best,” he said. “It’s a huge honour to play against India.”

When asked about the experience of being part of this landmark event in India, Da Silva shared his excitement, calling it a dream come true. “The excitement is indescribable. It feels surreal. Coming from Brazil, we never imagined the magnitude of this World Cup,” he explained, clearly overwhelmed by the opportunity.

Da Silva also spoke about the vibrant atmosphere and cultural richness of the host country. “It was incredible, like being on cloud nine. The dances and the cultural performances were beautiful,” he said, appreciating the energy that surrounded the event.

The Brazilian team has also been touched by the hospitality they’ve received in India. “The hospitality here has been amazing. Everyone is taking care of us, and we’re so grateful. We don’t want this to end,” Da Silva concluded, expressing his heartfelt appreciation for the kindness shown by their hosts.

The historic Kho Kho World Cup began in New Delhi on Monday with a grand opening ceremony and will run until January 19. The men’s tournament kicked off with India’s match against Nepal, while the women’s tournament starts on Tuesday with England facing Australia. Brazil’s men’s team will face India in their first match on Tuesday.
