GUWAHATI: The investigation into the strange death of Assamese cultural hero and musician Zubeen Garg has picked up speed. His wife, Garima Garg, has taken an important step to make sure that the investigation is fair.
Garima Garg told the reporters on Saturday that she had given the state CID investigators back her husband’s postmortem report. She said that she didn’t think of the document as her own property, which showed how much she trusted the inquiry process.
“I pondered about it and took suggestions too. I didn’t think the report was my own because the investigation is still going on. “I have given the same thing back to the investigating officer,” she stated.
Garima also said that making the report public could slow down the inquiry. This is a worry that comes up as people speculate and get angry over the singer’s murder in Singapore on September 19.
The Death That Wasn’t Clear and the Poisoning Claims
Zubeen Garg died in the sea in Singapore, while he was attending the 4th edition of the NorthEast India Festival. The circumstances of his death are unclear. At first, it looked like the person had drowned, but the story has changed a lot since then, with fresh, shocking claims, including one that the person was poisoned.
When asked about band member Shekhar Jyoti Goswami’s claim that Zubeen was poisoned by his management and the event organizer, Garima said she couldn’t believe that such a tragedy could happen to someone so close to her.
“We thought of everyone as family and brothers. He constantly said that they are our extended families and that we need to think about their families as well. We only did that. What has been done to us now, if it really happened? She said, “So, the harshest punishment should be given if it really happened.”
CID investigation gets more serious, and a court case starts
The huge public and legal response shows how complicated the case is:
CID Investigation: The state CID is looking into the crime after getting more than 60 First Information Reports (FIRs) from people in Assam.
People arrested: The FIRs are aimed at Shyamkanu Mahanta, the main organizer of the NorthEast India Festival, and “almost 10 others,” such as manager Sharma and band members Goswami and Amrit Prabha. It has been verified that four people, namely Mahanta, Sharma, Goswami, and Amrit Prabha, have already been arrested and are now in police custody for 14 days.
Judicial committee: The Assam government set up a one-man judicial committee on Friday to make sure that the investigation is open and thorough. Justice Soumitra Saikia of the Gauhati High Court is in charge of the panel, which is looking into the strange circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
