Zoe Saldana Clinches Best Supporting Actress At 2025 Critics Choice Awards

California [US], February 8: Zoe Saldana continues her winning streak, claiming the Best Supporting Actress award at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards for her powerful performance in Emilia Perez. This marks her second win in the same category, following her victory at the Golden Globes earlier this year.

Saldana was up against stiff competition, with nominees including Danielle Deadwyler for The Piano Lesson, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor for Nickel Boys, Ariana Grande for Wicked, Margaret Qualley for The Substance, and Isabella Rossellini for Conclave.

In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Zoe thanked the Critics Choice Association and her fellow nominees. She also took a moment to acknowledge the role of movie critics, humorously referencing some of the more pointed reviews she’s received over her career. “I appreciate the role of a critic. I do. I sometimes read the reviews and internalize it, especially the helpful feedback like, ‘Her crying is distracting.’ ‘She’s in too many franchises.’ Or, my personal favorite, she’s too blue,” Zoe joked, alluding to her iconic role in the Avatar franchise.

Reflecting on the impact of Emilia Perez, Zoe expressed her gratitude for the film’s success and the global resonance it has had. “To think that Emilia Perez is the little movie that could and has resonated with so many people has been an experience worth having. To the entire cast and crew, the talented artists and designers and musicians, I share this with you,” she said. She further added a message of hope, wishing that the film would inspire curiosity, kindness, and understanding in audiences. “Our world is too big and too beautiful to be any other way. Stay curious, stay kind, and stay blue — not too blue,” she remarked.

For the event, Zoe made a striking appearance in a red silk Saint Laurent gown with an open back, matching heels, and a black bow on the back of the dress. Her chic accessory choices included a black choker and diamond rings, elevating her elegant look.

Having won Best Supporting Actress at both the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards, Zoe is now set to compete in the same category at the upcoming BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Awards. With the Oscars in March on the horizon, her chances for an additional accolade are looking promising.
