Zeenat Aman Overwhelmed as She Boards Air India Flight Days After Tragic Crash

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 15: Veteran actress Zeenat Aman shared an emotional moment on social media after boarding an Air India flight on Saturday, just days after the devastating crash of a London-bound Air India aircraft near Ahmedabad, which claimed over 200 lives.

The tragedy has deeply shaken the nation, prompting an outpouring of grief from celebrities, public figures, and citizens across the country.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Zeenat Aman shared a photo of herself seated on the aircraft, reflecting on the emotional weight of the moment. “Boarded an Air India flight this morning and found myself absolutely overwhelmed with emotion as I buckled my seat. May our collective grief offer some solace to those who lost their loved ones,” she wrote.

Bollywood stars have come forward to express their condolences. In a blog post, Amitabh Bachchan said, “Most pained and filled with immense remorse on the Air India crash… May grief transform into solidarity in honouring lost lives… and for the healing of all.”

Actors Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan also took to social media to offer prayers and extend their support to the bereaved families.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the crash site in Ahmedabad on Friday, describing the scene as “saddening” and praised emergency teams for their efforts. “Visited the crash site in Ahmedabad today. The scene of devastation is saddening,” he posted on X.

The ill-fated flight carried 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian passenger. Only one person, Vishwashkumar Ramesh—a British citizen of Indian descent—survived and is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries.

Airline officials identified the flight crew as Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, a senior trainer with over 8,000 flying hours, and First Officer Clive Kundar. Authorities confirmed the aircraft had issued a Mayday call before losing contact with air traffic control.

In response to the tragedy, Air India’s parent company, Tata Group, has pledged ₹1 crore in compensation to the families of each of the deceased passengers.
