New Delhi [India]: Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh shared an emotional message for cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar after the ‘Master Blaster’ was honored with the Col. CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award at the BCCI Awards in Mumbai.
At the BCCI’s annual ‘Naman Awards’ ceremony on Saturday, ICC Chairman Jay Shah presented the prestigious award to Tendulkar, recognizing his unparalleled contributions to Indian and world cricket.
Taking to Instagram, Yuvraj congratulated Sachin and praised him for inspiring a generation of cricketers with his dedication and perseverance.
“Congratulations master on winning the CK Nayadu Lifetime Achievement Award. For every cricketer of our generation, you were the one who showed us that dreams are achieved with relentless hard work and unwavering belief,” wrote Yuvraj.
“Your impact on the game and on all of us who had the privilege of sharing the field with you is immeasurable. Much love and respect always,” he added.
Sachin’s Legendary Career
Often referred to as the ‘God of Cricket,’ Sachin Tendulkar mesmerized fans worldwide with his impeccable skill and dedication to the sport from 1989 to 2013.
The Maharashtra-born batting maestro made his Test debut on November 15, 1989, at just 16 years old, facing a formidable Pakistan pace attack in Karachi. He played his first ODI on December 18, 1989.
With 34,357 runs in 664 international matches at an average of 48.52, he remains the highest run-scorer in international cricket history. His staggering record includes:
- 100 international centuries (a record yet to be broken)
- 164 half-centuries
- First-ever cricketer to score a double century in ODIs
- A record 200 Test appearances
In ODIs, he amassed 18,426 runs at an average of 44.83, with 49 centuries and 96 fifties. In Tests, he scored 15,921 runs at an average of 53.78, with 51 centuries and 68 fifties.
One of the most cherished moments of his career came in 2011, when he finally lifted the ICC Cricket World Cup—realizing a lifelong dream after his World Cup debut in 1992.
