Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati: The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) launched a harsh attack on the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led NDA government in Andhra Pradesh. They said that the government was ruining the state’s image by allegedly extorting money from business owners, including a well-known carmaker in the Rayalaseema region.
Talari Rangaiah, the leader of the YSRCP and a former MP, said in a release, “The coalition government is ruining Andhra Pradesh’s social and industrial fabric.” He said that officials of the ruling alliance were asking for contracts, commissions, and jobs. If this is true, it might mean that factories close and industries move out of the state. Rangaiah said, “Instead of the visionary governance that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu promised, we see extortion and mismanagement.”
The YSRCP’s claims went beyond just extortion in the business world. Rangaiah also accused the government of “plundering” the state’s natural resources, naming sand, quartz, and liquor as examples, and of blocking ways for people to make money. He also said that social programs were being “manipulated to benefit party loyalists, which goes against the principle of impartiality.”
The YSRCP said that the number of people receiving welfare pensions is “steadily declining” and that field assistants, animators, and contractors are being laid off. They say this goes against the government’s promises to create jobs. Rangaiah said that the previous YSRCP government was better because it used direct benefit transfer (DBT) to make sure that welfare programs were delivered in a clear and honest way. He said that the existing government “threatens industries and impoverishes citizens,” and that rapid changes were needed to defend the economic and social destiny of Andhra Pradesh.
TDP Denies Claims and Points Out Its Own Industrial Successes
G. Deepak Reddy, a prominent TDP leader, quickly rebutted Rangaiah’s claims, saying they were “not only factually wrong but also a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and cover up the YSRCP government’s bad record on industry.”
Reddy talked on how TDP’s innovative leadership brought the car industry that is now at the center of the allegations to Andhra Pradesh. He said that Chief Minister Naidu’s previous term created a good atmosphere for business growth, which led to one of the biggest foreign investments in the state’s history. He stressed that the car manufacturer in issue provided thousands of jobs, both directly and indirectly, which greatly helped the local economy and put Andhra Pradesh on the global industrial map.
Reddy said that the YSRCP’s conduct in its last term “undermined investor confidence,” which is not what the YSRCP said about the current government. He reiterated the TDP’s dedication to open, business-friendly government and the generation of high-quality job prospects for the residents of Andhra Pradesh.
Reddy ended by telling the YSRCP to “stop spreading false information and instead work on making an environment that is stable and welcoming for investment and development.”
This political war of words shows how much the YSRCP and the TDP in Andhra Pradesh hate each other. Both parties are trying to change the story about government, business growth, and the public good.
