Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], February 10: YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, has issued a public apology for his “inappropriate” and “insensitive” comments made during an episode of the YouTube show ‘India’s Got Latent’. His remarks, which sparked massive outrage, led to a formal complaint and legal scrutiny.
In a one-minute video shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Allahbadia expressed regret for his actions. “I shouldn’t have said what I said on India’s got latent. I’m sorry,” he wrote, acknowledging the backlash.
The comments in question occurred during a segment where Allahbadia asked a contestant an offensive question: “Would you rather watch your parents…. or join in once and stop it forever?” The inappropriate remark quickly went viral, drawing widespread condemnation across social media.
Following the backlash, a formal complaint was lodged against Allahbadia, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, comedian Samay Raina, and the show’s organizers. The complaint, filed with both the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission, accused the show of using abusive language and making degrading remarks about women in order to gain popularity and financial benefit through online views.
In his apology video, Allahbadia admitted that the comment was “inappropriate” and not funny, emphasizing that “comedy is not my forte.” He further clarified, “I am just here to say sorry. It wasn’t cool on my part.”
Addressing concerns about his influence on young audiences, Allahbadia acknowledged the responsibility that comes with his platform. “The podcast is watched by people of all ages. I don’t want to be the kind of person who takes that responsibility lightly,” he said. “Family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect. I need to use this platform better. That has been my learning from this whole experience. I promise to get just better.”
Allahbadia also revealed that he had asked the creators of ‘India’s Got Latent’ to remove the “insensitive sections” from the episode. “All I can say in the end is sorry, I hope you can forgive me as a human being,” he added.
The incident has stirred public outcry, with many demanding stronger accountability for such remarks, particularly given the wide reach of social media platforms and the potential negative influence on younger viewers.
