Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 21: A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against YouTuber Neha Singh Rathore at Lanka Police Station in Varanasi following a complaint by a social organisation, Shri Hanuman Sena, for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to the FIR, Rathore is accused of referring to the Prime Minister as a “coward” and likening him to “General Dyer.” The case has been filed under Sections 197 (1)(a), 197(1)(d), and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Multiple similar complaints have reportedly been lodged in various police stations across Kashi (Varanasi) accusing Rathore of offensive comments directed at the PM.
This is not the first legal issue involving the YouTuber. In April 2025, Rathore was booked under serious charges, including sedition, at Hazratganj Police Station in Lucknow, based on her online remarks following the Pahalgam terror attack.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) dated April 23, Rathore accused the Modi-led government of exploiting caste and religion for political gains. She further alleged that the Pulwama attack was used for electoral benefits and claimed similar political narratives could follow the Pahalgam attack of April 22, which killed 26 people, including a Nepali citizen.
The FIR in the Hazratganj case was filed by poet Abhay Pratap Singh, also known as Abhay Singh, who alleged that Rathore’s repeated social media content could incite caste-based tensions and promote anti-national sentiment.
Authorities are now investigating the cases filed against Rathore, as the controversy draws national attention over the boundaries of free speech and public accountability on digital platforms.
