Amid widespread storms, rains, and hailstorms across Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed district authorities to launch immediate and effective relief operations, according to an official statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to survey affected areas, oversee relief distribution, and ensure timely assistance to those impacted by adverse weather. In particular, he emphasized that families suffering loss of life or livestock due to lightning, storms, or torrential rains must receive compensation without delay.
He also called for proper medical care for the injured and directed field visits by senior officials to assess ground-level situations and maintain close monitoring of relief activities.
“Officials should conduct field visits, assess the situation, and maintain a close watch on relief efforts,” the CM said, urging district administrations to prioritize drainage arrangements in waterlogged areas to avoid further inconvenience to residents.
CM Adityanath further ordered crop damage assessments, calling for detailed reports to be submitted to the state government for necessary follow-up action. The recent unseasonal weather has damaged crops and property in several regions of the state.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), thunderstorms and thundershowers accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30–40 km/h) are expected to continue on May 6 (Tuesday) across both western and eastern UP.
Earlier, heavy rains lashed Moradabad on Monday, particularly affecting the Katghar area, which experienced severe waterlogging. The sudden weather disruptions have led to traffic disruptions, property damage, and loss of life, prompting immediate government action.
