In preparation for the grand Mahakumbh 2025, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath convened a crucial meeting with officials at the Circuit House in Prayagraj to assess and enhance the event’s logistics and facilities.
The Mahakumbh will commence with the Paush Purnima Snan on January 13, 2025, and conclude with the final bath on Mahashivratri, February 26, 2025. The state government is prioritizing the provision of superior amenities to ensure a seamless and enriching experience for the millions of devotees expected to attend.
Innovative Infrastructure for Devotees
A key highlight of the preparations is the construction of a special floating jetty at Sangam. This innovative structure will facilitate comfortable and efficient bathing for devotees, along with facilities for changing clothes, thereby enhancing the overall pilgrimage experience.
In addition to infrastructural improvements, a robust healthcare plan is being implemented. A 100-bed hospital is nearing completion at Parade Ground in Mahakumbh Nagar, with numerous specialist doctors being deployed to ensure the health and safety of all attendees, including saints and devotees alike.
World-Class Accommodations
To accommodate the anticipated influx of visitors, the authorities are erecting modern huts and tents in Prayagraj. These accommodations will meet world-class standards, offering five-star hotel-like amenities. The tent city will feature four distinct categories: Villa, Maharaja, Swiss Cottage, and Dormitory, with daily rates ranging from ₹1,500 to ₹35,000. Additional charges of ₹4,000 to ₹8,000 will apply for extra guests, excluding dormitory accommodations. This initiative is designed to cater to the expected 45 crore visitors from 75 countries, ensuring their stay is both comfortable and memorable.
Green Initiatives for Sustainable Pilgrimage
In a significant stride towards sustainability, the Uttar Pradesh government has launched an online booking system for electric rickshaws (e-rickshaws) and e-autos. This initiative aims to minimize the carbon footprint of the Mahakumbh Mela 2025, aligning with the state’s vision of a “Green Mahakumbh.” Starting December 15, devotees can conveniently book e-rickshaws and e-autos through a dedicated app, mirroring popular ride-hailing platforms like Uber and Ola. This move not only promotes eco-friendly travel but also ensures smooth and safe transportation for millions of attendees.
Commitment to Efficient and Transparent Governance
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing the judicial and administrative infrastructure to support the Mahakumbh. “The virtual court, digital portal, and paperless e-filing approaches have also been adopted by the state judiciary. Various initiatives introduced today in Lokaparna and Khatamuhurta will speed up the justice system,” he stated.
He further emphasized the importance of coordination between the judiciary, executive, and legislature in maintaining good governance and ensuring the success of large-scale events like Mahakumbh. “Speedy justice is essential for people to have a direct experience of good governance. For this, the state government is committed to providing resources as per the requirement of the judiciary and high court,” Patel added.
Leadership and Vision
Supreme Court Justice Suryakant lauded the advancements in Gujarat’s judicial infrastructure, noting that “A strong judicial infrastructure and proper use of technology are the most important needs of the judiciary in today’s modern era. The Gujarat High Court is at the forefront in the implementation of both these matters.”
Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal also praised the state government’s efforts, stating that the new infrastructure would facilitate a faster and more efficient judicial process.
Financial Commitment
The state government has significantly increased its financial allocation for judicial infrastructure, from ₹1,698 crore in 2021-22 to ₹2,586 crore in 2024-25, underscoring its dedication to enhancing judicial efficiency and infrastructure development.
The comprehensive preparations for Mahakumbh 2025 demonstrate Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to providing a spiritually fulfilling, comfortable, and environmentally sustainable experience for millions of devotees from around the world.
