Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP leader Yogi Adityanath is set to hold 14 rallies and public programs in Delhi, beginning January 23, as part of the party’s campaign for the Delhi Assembly elections.
Yogi Adityanath’s Role in Campaigning
A senior Delhi BJP source revealed that Adityanath’s involvement is aimed at influencing voters with Uttar Pradesh roots.
“UP CM Yogi Adityanath will play a crucial role in campaigning in Delhi for BJP. His presence as UP CM in Delhi will impact voters who have a UP background. Yogi will do 14 rallies and public programs starting from 23rd January,” the source told media.
The Chief Minister is expected to campaign in areas such as Ghonda, Shahdara, Dwarka, Bijwasan, Palam, Rajendra Nagar, and Patel Nagar, which have a significant population of people with Uttar Pradesh backgrounds.
Union Minister Meghwal Criticizes Kejriwal
Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal criticized AAP leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for alleged inconsistencies between his promises and actions.
“Arvind Kejriwal had said that he will not live in a government house, will not take any security. Now he has built a good house and he has good security, Arvind Kejriwal has been exposed and that is why he is lying a lot,” Meghwal said.
Meghwal expressed confidence in the BJP’s chances, stating,
“After the formation of the double-engine government, Delhi will develop a lot. BJP government will be formed in Delhi.”
BJP Candidate Highlights Issues in Karol Bagh
Dushyant Gautam, BJP candidate from Karol Bagh, raised concerns about basic amenities in Delhi.
“I am not contesting the election but the people of Karol Bagh are contesting the election… Unfortunately, even the drinking water here is dirty,” he said, emphasizing the need for clean water and cleanliness in the capital.
A Three-Way Battle in Delhi
The Delhi Assembly elections will witness a three-way contest among the ruling AAP, BJP, and Congress. The polls are scheduled for February 5, with the counting of votes to take place on February 8.
