Reasi (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 21: The District Administration of Reasi marked the 11th International Day of Yoga 2025 with a unique celebration—holding a special yoga session atop the Chenab Rail Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from civil administration officials, Northern Railway staff, CRPF personnel, local residents, and yoga practitioners. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Chenab Valley, the group performed various asanas, emphasizing wellness and unity.
The Chenab Rail Bridge, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 9, stands 359 metres above the Chenab River. The 1,315-metre-long steel arch bridge is designed to withstand seismic activity and strong winds. It significantly enhances connectivity between Jammu and Srinagar, officially linking the Kashmir Valley to the rest of India by rail for the first time.
This year’s International Day of Yoga carried the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, echoing India’s holistic vision of global well-being and emphasizing the link between human and planetary health. It draws from the Indian ethos of “Sarve Santu Niramaya” (May all be free from disease).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also participated in the celebrations held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, along the scenic coastline. Accompanied by Indian Navy ships and thousands of yoga enthusiasts, the Prime Minister praised yoga as a universal gift that transcends age, culture, and borders.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi urged the global community to adopt “inner peace” as a “global policy” and to treat yoga as a shared global responsibility. He emphasized the unifying force of yoga, calling it a path to both personal well-being and global harmony.
PM Modi also reflected on India’s successful 2014 proposal to the United Nations to declare June 21 as International Yoga Day. He highlighted how over 170 countries supported the resolution, and how the movement has since grown into a global celebration of peace and balance.
The 2025 Yoga Day celebrations witnessed mass participation across India, reaffirming yoga’s role as a bridge between body, mind, and spirit.
