August 3, 2025: The high-stakes fifth Test between India and England at The Oval reached a new level of intensity on Day 4, with a fiery on-field exchange between India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and England’s Ben Duckett preceding the latter’s dismissal.
While fielding, Jaiswal was heard teasing Duckett about his cautious approach, a stark contrast to his usual aggressive “Bazball” style. “Come on, I want to see your shots. Play the sweep, reverse sweep. This is not your game,” Jaiswal quipped. Duckett fired back, asking, “Why should I listen to you?” India skipper Shubman Gill also joined in, adding to the pressure, which seemed to work as Duckett was dismissed for 54 by Prasidh Krishna shortly after.
At lunch on Day 4, the Indian pacers’ early strikes had reduced England to 164 for three. After resuming from their overnight score of 50 for one, England saw Duckett depart, followed by the first-hour dismissal of Zak Crawley by Mohammed Siraj on Day 3. At the break, England’s hopes rest on the partnership between Joe Root (23) and Harry Brook (38).
