New Delhi: Chinese President Xi Jinping told US President Donald Trump during a phone call on Friday that the United States should avoid implementing restrictive trade measures, according to a report from Xinhua News Agency. The conversation was part of ongoing efforts by the leaders of the world’s two largest economies to de-escalate trade tensions.
According to Xinhua, President Xi also addressed the highly-anticipated agreement regarding the sale of the US operations of ByteDance Ltd.’s popular video app, TikTok. Xi assured Trump that the Chinese government respects the wishes of the companies involved as they work to finalize a deal and extend an existing agreement that has rolled back some tariffs and export restrictions.
