Woman Jailed For Meerut ‘Cement Drum’ Murder Gives Birth To Baby Girl

Muskan Rastogi, who is currently in jail facing charges for the gruesome murder of her husband, Saurabh Rajput, gave birth to a baby girl at a local medical college in Meerut on Monday evening.

Jail officials confirmed that both the mother and the newborn are healthy and in stable condition.

Delivery Details and Security

Muskan was transferred from jail to the Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College late on Sunday night as her labour pain intensified.

  • Delivery: Senior Jail Superintendent Dr. Viresh Raj Sharma told media that Muskan was brought to the hospital at around 11:30 pm on Sunday. The Head of Obstetrics, Dr. Shakun Singh, confirmed that doctors successfully attempted a normal delivery, and the baby weighed 2.4 kg.
  • Condition: Jail officials stated that Muskan is in stable condition and was closely monitored throughout the day.
  • Security: Due to the sensitivity and high-profile nature of the case, the hospital administration has significantly increased police deployment, particularly around the main entrance and the wards where Muskan is being kept. Special security instructions have been issued.

Family Fails to Visit

Jail officials made it clear that while Muskan’s family members were informed about the birth, no one from the family has visited the mother or the newborn baby.

The Meerut Murder Case

Muskan Rastogi and her lover, Sahil Shukla, are the main accused in the shocking murder of Muskan’s husband, Saurabh Rajput, which took place on the night of March 4 at their residence in Meerut’s Indiranagar.

The allegations against the couple include:

  • The Crime: Drugging Saurabh before stabbing him to death.
  • Hiding the Body: Subsequently dismembering Saurabh’s body—severing his head and hands—and attempting to conceal the body parts in a blue drum filled with cement.
  • Fleeing: Following the murder, Sahil and Muskan allegedly fled to Himachal Pradesh.
  • Motive and Planning: Investigations revealed that Muskan had allegedly been planning the murder since November 2023, as Saurabh was perceived as “an obstacle in their love affair” by the accused.

Both Muskan and Sahil were arrested on March 18, with Muskan having reportedly confessed to her family before her arrest.
