Woman Claiming To Be Freddie Mercury’s ‘Secret Daughter’ Dies At 48 After Rare Cancer Battle

A woman publicly known as ‘Bibi’, who claimed to be the secret daughter of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, has died at the age of 48. Her husband, Thomas, confirmed her death in a statement to the Daily Mail, saying she passed away peacefully following a prolonged illness.

“She died peacefully after a long battle with chordoma, a rare form of spinal cancer,” Thomas said. Bibi is survived by her two sons, aged nine and seven.

“B is now with her beloved and loving father in the world of thoughts,” he added. “Her ashes were scattered to the wind over the Alps.”

How the World Learned About ‘Bibi’

Bibi’s alleged connection to Freddie Mercury became public knowledge in May 2025, following the release of a biography titled Love, Freddie, written by author Lesley-Ann Jones.

According to the book, Bibi was conceived in 1976 during an alleged affair between Mercury and the wife of one of his close friends. The biography claims that Mercury maintained a close and private relationship with Bibi until his death in 1991.

The book further states that Bibi was in possession of 17 volumes of Mercury’s personal journals, which reportedly formed the basis of the biography.

Author Reacts to Her Death

Reacting to Bibi’s passing, author Lesley-Ann Jones expressed deep grief and described her as a woman driven by a singular mission.

“I am devastated by the loss of this woman who became my close friend,” Jones was quoted as saying. “She came to me with a selfless aim — to challenge the lies, misinformation and rewriting of Freddie’s life that have persisted for 32 years, and to deliver the truth.”

Jones added that Bibi remained committed to this goal despite her declining health.

“She was very ill throughout the four years that we worked together, but she never wavered. She put herself and her own needs last. At the end of her life, this mission was all that mattered to her,” she said.

Claims Sparked Controversy

Bibi’s claims reignited widespread debate following the book’s release. Several members of Freddie Mercury’s inner circle, including his former long-term partner Mary Austin, publicly expressed scepticism.

Austin stated that she had no knowledge of any secret child and described the story as “implausible and deeply sad.”

Despite the controversy, Bibi’s account continued to attract public attention, adding a new and contested chapter to the enduring legacy of the iconic Queen frontman.
