A lady in her 40s was detained on Saturday night for trying to get into the Seoul home of BTS star Jungkook. This raised additional worries about the safety of the K-pop star. This is the second time something like this has happened in the last few months, after a Chinese woman tried to do it in June.
The Yongsan Police say that a security guard nabbed the culprit, Ms. A, after she allegedly followed a car into the building’s subterranean parking lot. The guard who was watching the CCTV tape saw the strange entry and called the police right away. When she was arrested, Ms. A reportedly made remarks that didn’t make sense, saying she “went in because it was a friend’s house.” The police are looking into why she did it.
The event happened the day after Jungkook shocked fans by giving them an unplanned tour of his home on Weverse. Jungkook toured fans around his house during the live session, which also had a surprise visit from fellow BTS member V (Kim Taehyung). He showed them his TV setup, stairs, and workout area.
The singer’s privacy has been violated before. A Chinese woman was jailed in June for trying to guess the digital lock code to his home just hours after he got out of the military. She has since been sent to the prosecution.
Fans, known as the ARMY, are pushing for greater security measures and legal punishment against people who breach the privacy of their heroes because of the repeated incidences. The event brings up the recurring problem of “sasaeng” fans in the K-pop industry. These are obsessive admirers that stalk and do other invasive things.
