Madison Fire Chief Chris Carbon stated that the fire department received a dispatch call around 10:57 AM (local time) and immediately responded with:

- 4 ladder companies
- 15 ambulances
Medics, who happened to be conducting training just three miles away, rushed to the scene to assist, Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes added during a press conference.
Casualties and Injuries
- 2 fatalities were confirmed, including the juvenile suspect.
- 6 individuals sustained injuries, with two students in critical, life-threatening condition.
- Four others are receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Chris Carbon noted that four victims were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital and three others to University of Wisconsin Hospitals.
